The malicious software, known as "multilizerpdftranslatorprocrackdownloadstorrent" has been discovered spreading through pirated software on the Darknet, according to an analysis by IT security firm ESET. With the help of ESET researchers, more than twenty-five million computer users worldwide have already lost their personal data. The malware is able to steal sensitive information such as credit card numbers and passwords from targeted systems. This malware can also create virtual machines on infected computers before exploiting them for Bitcoin mining or cryptocurrency exchange services. In its malicious software, the virus has been distributed through a Trojanized version of the legitimate Adobe Reader's PDF handler. When a user clicks on a website that hosts a malicious PDF file – normally installed using a double-click – the user's computer will start to download and execute malicious code. The malware is able to update its main functionality through BitTorrent protocol. Symantec, one of the world's largest security firms, said that cyber crooks used this kind of exploit to create wallets on PCs infected with ransomware. According to ESET's review, the malware of multilizerpdftranslatorprocrackdownloadstorrent is able to get the victims’ credit card data and passwords for more than 100 of the most popular websites, such as Facebook, Twitter and Gmail. ESET researchers gave some more information on how the malware works: This threat works very quietly in the background; it can be hard to notice that something wrong has even happened. It is one of many types of "fileless" threats like Eternal Blue (WannaCry) or Adylkuzz (WannaCry). Since there are no files that can be detected by standard antivirus scanners or forensics tools, detection is made difficult. By searching the malware code on the public sources on the Internet, ESET researchers were able to find connection to some of its components, for example for virtual machine creation on infected computers. These are freely available on GitHub, which is why it can be hard to discover multilizerpdftranslatorprocrackdownloadstorrent. According to ESET’s research, there are 5 machines in Russia and 1 in Poland that may have infected systems with multilizerpdftranslatorprocrackdownloadstorrent malware. Most of them seem to be servers or Internet-connected machines across different organizations. The malware was first discovered by ESET in March 2018. The same version of the malicious software was spreading through a fake website previously hosted by a Brazilian computer scientist, according to a report published in December 2017. It has been seen again spreading on the darknet in March 2018. There has been no reported case of infection from this malware worldwide. In January 2016, ESET researchers have spotted a new piece of malicious software that, according to them, is capable of stealing confidential information from users’ computers across the Globe. In this case, hackers use the legitimate Adobe Flash Player plugin which enables attackers to silently install and run malicious code on web browsers and visiting websites without victims’ knowledge or consent. cfa1e77820
